To connect Etsy to ChatGPT with this kit: install the listing-assistant plugin, create your private connection Site, register your own Etsy developer app, authorize your shop, and verify that ChatGPT can read a listing. Writing copy alone does not establish a shop connection.
1. Check access before downloading
You need an Etsy seller account, access to Etsy developer-app registration, and a ChatGPT account that supports this kit’s plugin, Sites, and connected tools. Check the features available in your account and workspace; a plan name alone does not confirm compatibility. The kit cannot grant Etsy app approval or unlock unavailable ChatGPT features.

2. Install the kit and start setup
The download contains the listing-assistant plugin, private connection-site source, and setup resources. Install the provided plugin in a supported account and start its Get Started workflow. The public website you are reading is not your shop connection: your own setup must be created separately.
3. Create your private connection Site
Follow the kit’s setup workflow to create the private Site that handles authorization and exposes the supported Etsy tools. Complete any hosting or publication approval requested by your interface. Keep the connection Site private; making this marketing website public does not require making your shop setup public.
Use the actual callback address supplied by your new connection Site. Do not copy an example callback or another seller’s address. You will register that exact address with your Etsy developer app in the next step.
4. Register your Etsy app and authorize your shop
Create your own developer app through Etsy and configure the callback URL from your Site. Enter app credentials only into the private setup form, never into a ChatGPT message or this website’s demonstration. Follow the Etsy authorization screen yourself and review the requested permissions before consenting.
The kit uses an OAuth connection rather than asking you to share your Etsy password in chat. Etsy’s OAuth authorization documentation explains the underlying process. Do not assume that installing the plugin alone has authorized your shop.
5. Verify a read before requesting a write
Connect the tools to ChatGPT using the kit’s instructions. Start with a read-only request, such as showing a known listing in your shop. Confirm that the returned title and listing ID are yours. A successful read gives you evidence that the tool connection and shop authorization work together.

Then try creating one unpublished physical-product draft, or previewing one listing update. Confirm the result in Etsy before expanding your workflow.
If setup stalls, isolate the missing step
- No plugin or Sites access: check account and workspace availability. You can still write listing copy, but the connected workflow is not ready.
- Etsy authorization fails: compare the registered callback with the actual Site callback and check app access. Do not paste tokens into chat for troubleshooting.
- Site connects but listings do not load: confirm that Etsy authorization completed for the intended shop, and use the connection checks in the setup flow.
- A draft is rejected: inspect missing required product, shipping, category, or processing fields. Connection success does not mean every listing is ready to save.
What happens after setup?
Use your conversation to supply product facts, refine copy, and request a supported action. Creating a draft is not publishing it. Live edits and state changes require approval. Photos, complex variations, and final listing checks may still need work in Etsy.
